This section contains all the information needed to build a real world version of the Rat's Life benchmark. The Rat's Life mazes are exclusively made of Lego® bricks. The reasons of this choice is to facilitate the diffusion of the mazes. This hardware is easy to obtain, is quite cheap and have an excellent quality. Moreover, the generated building instructions are unambiguous so the mazes are easily reproducible. For practical reasons, the Rat's Life mazes are designed in a modular way. It allows to create different mazes quickly by moving the modules, or to switch only some modules (typically the landmarks). The feeders are composed of Lego® Mindstorms® bricks (in particular the distance sensors). This choice allows to detect the presence of an e-puck, to have two distinct states and to select the reloading time.
